GDI, a world-class provider of outdoor perimeter intrusion detection systems, recently had shared their perimeter security expertise with Government, Aerospace and Defense sector personnel at the Houlihan Lokey's Aerospace″Defense″Government (ADG) Private Company Conference. The conference was held on Wednesday, September 24th at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington DC.
As a speaker, Andrew Gilmour, the president of GDI, presented the current state of the perimeter security industry with respect to the Government, Aerospace and Defense sectors. He concentrated on the importance of a truly holistic "4-D" approach to tackling security issues.
Outdoor security solutions have remained essentially the same for a long time, put a man around chain link fence on the perimeter and pray that he detects any intruders, and most attempts to utilize electronics (cameras, microwave detectors, vibration…) to solve perimeter security problems cannot deal with the varied climatic conditions and physical environments (animals, birds, trucks…) that such systems are exposed to on a daily basis. These technologies receive frequent false alarms and provide only 1 D (Detect intruders) out of 4 D.
GDI has determined that the effective provision of facility security begins with the establishment of control over the facility perimeter. In order to provide such control, it is necessary to provide for Detection, Deterrence, Delay and Active Defense at the outermost boundary of the facility. All functions must be provided simultaneously and continually: and not be affected by climatic change and physical environment.
Mr. Gilmour's address also focused on delivering complete security solutions. "We work with our clients intensively from the initial facility security survey and audit, through the design phase, installation, training, service and beyond. The end result is a security solution specifically tailored to the needs of each individual client and facility, a security solution that features excellent return on investment and extremely low total cost of ownership," "Nobody else can deliver turn key solutions like GDI does," said Mr. Gilmour.
Aegis p.c. Perimeter Security Solution provides all four functions (Detection, Deterrence, Delay and Active Defense) required of any perimeter defense and GDI delivers the single source solution to perimeter security.
Currently GDI is the largest single provider of perimeter security systems to the corrections/justice Industry in the USA. Our long term objective is to become the premier provider of turn-key perimeter security solutions for all government areas and multi-national enterprises globally. We will strive to establish a market presence in all major global security markets and develop new perimeter security products to expand the reach of our solution set invest, Mr. Gilmour concluded.
