Job Title: Senior Integrated Systems Design Engineer
Job Location/Performance of Duties: GDI Headquarters, Chicago, IL
Job Description
Design Integrated Systems and Controls utilizing the Aegis p.c. platform, PLCs, CCTV equipment, High Speed Automated Gates, and other GDI supported technologies to meet the needs and requirements of GDI's customers. Create custom software to integrate various GDI supplied hardware into a cohesive system. Liase with GDI product design and manufacturing engineers to improve existing GDI manufactured products and to increase their operational flexibility. Create installation documentation for GDI provided integrated systems to allow for field technicians to properly install and troubleshoot those systems in the field. Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with customers, subcontractors, employees and vendors. Compile and ensure compliance with company-wide and project-specific procedures, practices and reporting. Travel is required.
Qualifications
Candidate should have substantial hands-on experience successfully designing and implementing sophisticated integrated security systems: experience interpreting and complying with third party generated technical contract documents, plans and specifications a plus. Substantial PLC programming and troubleshooting experience, preferably utilizing the Allen Bradely Automation Platform, is required. Experience with OMRON PLCs, Vijeo Look, and Wonderware is a plus. Programming experience a plus. Excellent leadership, organizational and oral communication skills are required. Candidate must posses the ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with project managers, customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
· Ability to design integrated security systems and apparatus to meet the firm's project requirements in
a professional, productive and efficient manner.
· Ability to utilize AutoCAD to create and manage technical drawings and documentation.
· Have a thorough understanding of electronics and computer engineering principles.
· Ability to handle day-to-day issues and correct established work plans to meet the needs of changing
project conditions.
· Provide written and verbal project updates to management as required.
· Ensure customer training and project documentation is completed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· College degree preferred.
· 10-15 years of integration experience required.
· Self motivated and self directed. Strong initiative. Leadership qualities and skills required.
· Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, blue
prints, schematic drawings, etc.). Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or
schedule form.
· Ability to operate a fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times – must have a valid driver's license.

· The candidate must have the desire and ability to travel to project sites when and if required to
complete projects.
